About me
Worked at University of Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, University of Bath prior to appointment at UWE.
My research interests are in development economics, particularly in sub-Saharan Africa, transitional economies, labour economics, happiness economics and applied econometrics. Recent work has looked at corruption behaviour in the wake of the financial crisis and in relation to networks (with Artjoms Ivlevs), the UK smoking ban and impact on happiness, expected resource booms and growth in Sub-Saharan Africa, optimism and job satisfaction and return intentions of economic migrants. Current work includes research into corruption and life satisfaction, cultural social norms and what artifical intelligence, machine learning and robotic technologies will mean for citizens and the economy.
