About me
I am Senior Lecturer in Leadership and sustainable futures at the Bristol Business School, where I am also Programme Director for the 'Help to Grow' programme. I am a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts and a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
Teaching and learning: My current teaching activities include post graduate and executive courses in the areas of leadership, entrepreneurship, and sustainability in and of organisations. In addition to my role as module leader for ‘Leadership, complexity and change’ (part of the Bristol MBA programme) and for ‘Strategic leadership in Insurance (part of the MSc in Risk and Insurance), I am a member of the HTGM national alumni events panel. I have also been involved in the national curriculum design for both Help to Grow Management and Help to Grow Essentials.
Knowledge Exchange, Business and Policy: I play an active role in executive education delivery, writing and delivering content programmes, including Made Smarter (in Bristol and Plymouth), Future Finance (in collaboration with the University of Bristol) and Leadership Fundamentals (WECA)
I am also involved with practice driven, collaborative projects with industry partners, the NHS and higher education institutions, nationally and internationally.
Areas of expertise:
As a researcher, I am passionate about understanding what we mean by success, how our beliefs impact us as leaders and how these influences impact our organisations, and the communities we live in. My work explores how society, culture and economic narrative shape our leadership, development and sustainability of our businesses. From this respect, my research interests lie on the crossroads of several fields including: psychology, economics and neuroscience. These areas are connected by my interest in the reflective elements of leadership.
