About me
Laura is Professor for Sustainability Engagement in the School of Engineering and co-leads the Society theme in the Centre for Environment, Society, and Resilience. She is Programme Leader for the MSc in Sustainable Technology and lectures on Sustainability, Climate Communications, Human Centred Design, and Professional Skills for MSc and Undergraduate Science and Engineering degrees. She is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
Laura leads the South West Climate Ambassadors Hub, the Inspire Sustainability community and schools engagement project, the Women Like Me mentoring programme, and MAKERS repair cafés for circular economy knowledge exchange. She holds a PhD in Psychology, and explores community engagement from a social cognitive and social identity perspective. Her research interests include the circular economy, community energy, diverse green jobs and skills pathways, and developing involvement in policymaking for sustainable development.

Laura previously worked as a trained science journalist with extensive experience of working in the media and with the public. She is passionate about climate action and links to several advisory boards throughout Bristol and the West of England.
